GLOCK, Inc. Hosts World’s Largest Action Pistol Match

Smyrna, GA — October 2, 2013 —

Last weekend, September 20-22, 2013 the GLOCK Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) hosted 1,095 entries at South River Gun Club in Covington, Ga., making this year’s GLOCK Annual Shoot XX, Gunny Challenge IX and GLOCK Girls Side Match the biggest sanctioned pistol match in the world.

While competitors and spectators came from around the country, first place for the GLOCK Annual Shoot XX went to Mark Hammond of Cumming, Ga. for top amateur score and Gary Hueston of Brunswick, Ga. for top guardian score.

This year marks the first ever GLOCK Girl Side Match, held in conjunction with the main match. Seventy female competitors shot for performance and prizes with Wei Young of Matthews, N.C. taking top honors.

The Gunny Challenge is an annual invitational match hosted by GLOCK’s celebrity spokesman, actor and NRA board member R. Lee “Gunny” Ermey. “The Gunny” invited this year’s special guest, actor Adam Baldwin of Full Metal Jacket and Firefly fame to co-host the event. Winners of GSSF matches from around the country competed one-on-one in the Gunny Challenge IX for cash prizes and merchandise. Bryan Dover of Kirksville, Mo. took home this year’s title and top prize of $3,000.

“The Gunny Challenge has been a highlight for GSSF competitors and I have to thank Adam ‘Animal Mother’ Baldwin for coming down to accept my challenge to compete against me this year,” said Ermey. “Each year the ‘MatchMeisters’ come in here and have a great time. Adam and I were very impressed to be able to kick off this year’s event.”

GSSF matches are fun, family-oriented events open to the general public. GLOCK, Inc. hosts 46 of these matches around the country each year. For more information on GSSF, or to find a match near you visit
