GLOCK ANNUAL SHOOT XXXI OUTDOOR MATCH

AND GUNNY CHALLENGE

TALLADEGA, AL. – September 21, 2024 Friends and family from all over the country gathered at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park in Alabama over the weekend for the GLOCK Annual Shoot XXXI and Gunny Challenge.

The GLOCK Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) is a GLOCK exclusive, family-oriented, safe shooting competition for people of all skill levels that includes a division for every GLOCK pistol. GSSF hosts over 60 outdoor matches each year, and the GLOCK Annual Shoot at CMP Talladega continues to be the largest with 331 shooters and 961 entries this year. Just like the other GSSF outdoor matches, the GLOCK Annual Shoot consists of three stages: GLOCK’M, 5 to GLOCK, and GLOCK the Plates, with roughly 100 rounds per entry. This year’s match featured guest appearances from Team GLOCK, GLOCK armorers and sales demos, a full bay of vendors, and the Military and Law Enforcement Appreciation Shoot with ammunition provided by House of Pain Ammunition. Vendors like C&H Precision, Dryfire Mag, the GLOCK Shop, GLOCK IQ, Green Wolf Tactical, Hunters HD Gold, Knife Sharpening, Make Stuff Better Custom Laser Engraving, Make Ready Shooter Table, and Rezilyent Custom Hearing Protection, each offered a selection of their unique products.

The biggest difference in the Annual Shoot from any other GSSF match is the Gunny Challenge, essentially making this a match within a match. The Gunny Challenge originated in 2005 when Gunnery Sergeant, R. Lee Ermey, AKA “The Gunny”, would end the competition by competing against another celebrity. The Gunny Challenge is carried on in his honor with a competition of the top GSSF competitors. To compete in the Gunny Challenge, a competitor must be a Matchmeister, which is the overall winner of a GSSF match holding the best time across all qualifying divisions. In this unique shoot-off between the Matchmeisters, they are issued a GLOCK pistol and ammunition for a surprise course for the challenge.

The 2024 Gunny Challenge consisted of 26 Matchmeisters who battled for hours shooting the GLOCK 49 MOS outfitted with a C&H Precision Comp red-dot optic. 3,300 rounds of 9MM ammunition, provided by Underwood Ammo, were sent downrange during this year’s challenge. The three-time, back-to-back champion, Brad Balsley, took home the winning title as the 2024 Gunny Challenge Champion with Brian Giovannini trailing right behind in 2nd place.

Out of the 331 competitors, Brad Balsley was once again the overall winner of the GLOCK Annual Shoot XXXI, redeeming the title of Matchmeister. Scott Drobnick, GSSF Manager says, “Thanks to everyone who helped make our Annual Shoot a success. We hope to see you all next year!”
